Some of the sphalerite crystals from the Flamboro Quarry exhibit a fiery orange hue, and this specimen is a small, yet fine example. It features numerous complex, spinel-twinned clusters of vibrant orange sphalerite perched on a dolomitic limestone matrix. While sphalerite is a well-known sulfide species found at countless localities worldwide, this particular specimen hails from the lesser-known Flamboro Quarry in Flamborough, Ontario. Once open to collectors and mineral clubs, the quarry has unfortunately ceased allowing public access in recent years. This is especially regrettable, as the site was known for producing excellent specimens of fluorite and sphalerite.
