A delightful miniature specimen from the Tsumeb Mine, Namibia, featuring a rich coating of countless tiny, translucent, smithsonite scalenohedrons, with a slight pink cobaltoan hue. The delicate crystals sparkle across a dark, oxidized matrix (or possibly tennantite, though not confirmed). While smithsonite is found in many localities worldwide, the elongated scalenohedral habit of cobalt-included pink smithsonite from Tsumeb is very rare, in fact, this style remains unique to the deposit. Their sharpness, vivid pastel tones, and rarity make this piece a good example of one of Tsumeb’s most coveted smithsonite varieties.
