This striking specimen features a cluster of champagne to near-colourless smithsonite crystals, crowned by one exceptionally large crystal that dominates the grouping. Hard to see in the photo, but the main crystal measures 28mm, this standout crystal displays fine silky lustre and sharp definition, with only a minor cleavage at the tip—barely detracting from its overall quality. The surrounding crystals complement the centrepiece beautifully, forming a balanced cluster that highlights both the scale and clarity of the primary crystal.
Such large, well-formed smithsonite crystals are highly prized, especially in this delicate champagne hue. The piece comes from the collection of Robert Yeoman, the Irish-born, Toronto-based collector renowned for his discerning eye and outstanding Tsumeb suite. This specimen reflects both the mineralogical richness of the Tsumeb deposit and Yeoman’s commitment to preserving top-quality examples for future appreciation.
