This miniature specimen of smithsonite from the Berg Aukus Mine in Namibia is truly distinctive, unlike another I've seen from this locality. It features a dense cluster of creamy white, botryoidal crystals forming pearly, compact rhombohedra, with some partial 'rosettes,' all on little to no matrix. The compact yet sculptural arrangement allows the specimen to be appreciated from multiple angles, making it a great display piece. A classic and elegant example of smithsonite, this piece comes from the renowned collection of Robert Yeoman, the Irish-born, Toronto-based collector celebrated for his outstanding Namibian mineral specimens.
