This specimen features dendritic silver embedded in carbonate and nickel-arsenide matrix from the Alhambra Mine, New Mexico's most notable silver mine. The matrix is sawn flat on one side to clearly display the dendritic pattern of crystallized native silver. Work began at this mine in 1895, the last year of production was in 1960. The mine is now part of a national forrest.
