This slab showcases a carbonate vein rich in high-grade silver, partially etched on one face to emphasize its impressive silver content. It originates from the historic Peterson Lake Mine, a notable producer within the Cobalt mining district. The Peterson Lake Mine featured multiple shafts, including three sunk along the western shore of Peterson Lake and two located on islands within the lake. The underground workings extended beneath the lake itself, a testament to the ambitious engineering of the era. Specimens like this highlight the exceptional mineralization that characterized this mine, making it an integral part of the rich mining history of the Cobalt area.
