Capitol Mine, Haultain twp., Gowganda, Ontario
Canada
Dimensions: 5.8x2.7x1.7 cm
Price: CA

This specimen features rich dendritic silver and arsenides threading through its structure, with one side cut to reveal intricate interior details while the other remains rough. It comes from the Capitol Mine, one of Gowganda's earliest mining operations. Discovered in 1908, the Capitol Mine is renowned for producing rich specimens of crystallized silver such as this. The Capitol Mine was operated by Castle-Tretheway Mines Ltd. from 1929 until 1959, later transitioning to McIntyre Porcupine Mines Ltd. before its closure in 1964.

This particular piece exemplifies the mine’s characteristic mineral assemblage and serves as a noteworthy example of the region's unique geology.
