This lovely miniature features several salmon-pink to orange prismatic crystals of serandite with a bright, glassy lustre. Each crystal is well-formed and fully terminated, including the tallest crystal, which may appear chipped in photos but, on closer inspection, shows natural staggered growth rather than damage. The crystals rise elegantly with no matrix, creating a balanced composition.
Mont Saint-Hilaire is one of the few localities in the world where the mineral occurs in such aesthetic, collectible specimens. This piece makes for a wonderful miniature display specimen and a fine addition to any Mont Saint-Hilaire or rare mineral collection.
