Serandite, Epididymite, Polylithionite

Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville Co., Quebec
Canada
Dimensions: 3.2x2.8x1.3 cm
Price: CA

This specimen features a face of vibrant salmon-orange serandite, accompanied by mica-like sheets of beige polylithionite and, most notably, a bright white hexagonal crystal of epididymite at the top left. While the serandite is cleaved on the reverse, the front and top display excellent lustre and vivid colour. Serandite is one of the hallmark minerals of Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec—one of the most prolific and mineralogically diverse localities in the world. The site has produced an extraordinary variety of mineral species, including some of the finest known examples of serandite. With collecting at Mont Saint-Hilaire now highly restricted, high-quality serandite specimens have become increasingly scarce.
