Selenite

This is an exceptionally glassy, fully terminated, razor sharp and just about perfectly formed, selenite. Displaying the textbook clarity and structure of the crystal. An additional tiny selenite crystal has penetrated the top of the primary crystal, making for a dynamic showpiece. These crystals formed in clay, which acted as a natural protective barrier, preserving their pristine condition by shielding them from weathering. Twinned selenite crystals from the Peace River area exhibit a fascinating fluorescent response under UV light, revealing a bright, hourglass-shaped zonal fluorescence—a distinctive and well-documented feature of this locality.
