Selenite

This is one of the finest selenite specimens of this type that I have encountered. The crystal is exceptionally glassy, fully terminated, and just about perfectly formed, displaying the textbook clarity and structure of gypsum. Two additional selenite crystals penetrate the top and bottom of the primary crystal, making for a dynamic showpiece. These crystals formed in clay, which acted as a natural protective barrier, preserving their pristine condition by shielding them from weathering. Twinned selenite crystals from the Peace River area exhibit a fascinating fluorescent response under UV light, revealing a bright, hourglass-shaped zonal fluorescence—a distinctive and well-documented feature of this locality. This exceptional specimen would make an eye-catching addition to any mineral display.
