This is a notably rare and hard-to-find specimen of scheelite from the Inguaran Copper Mine in Michoacán, Mexico, a historic locality first discovered in 1500. The piece features a sharp, well-formed, and unusually white pyramidal crystal. Under shortwave UV light, the scheelite fluoresces a glowing white-blue. There is no significant damage aside from the contact at the base. This is a choice locality specimen, ideal for collectors of scheelite, tungsten minerals, or Mexican mineral specimens.
The Inguaran Copper Mine is currently closed with no plans for reopening. Mining operations at this site primarily involved underground methods, with a single shaft extending up to 10,500 meters (34,449 feet) below the surface. The deposit is a breccia pipe-hosted porphyry copper-tungsten system.
