This specimen consists of a thick plate (sawn on the bottom) featuring a dynamic cluster of well-formed, terminated scapolite (var. marialite) crystals. The scapolite exhibits a pink fluorescence under UV light, though the intensity is slightly less pronounced than the photo suggests.
This remarkable piece originates from a well-known pegmatite collecting locality within the Grenville Province in Quebec. The area is designated as a "Zec," or "Zone d'Exploitation Contrôlée," meaning a controlled exploration zone, where collecting is carefully managed to ensure the preservation of these exceptional mineral specimens.
