Rhodochrosite, Quartz

An incredibly hard-to-find miniature featuring sharp, bubble-gum pink interlocking rhombohedral rhodochrosite crystals with glass lustre aesthetically scattered across the matrix and accompanied by mini quartz crystals. This charming old stock specimen comes from the famous mines of Butte, Montana, likely collected in the 1950s when the mines were still active. While it resembles material historically attributed to the Travona Mine, the original label does not confirm this locality. Regardless, these Butte rhodochrosites are true American mineral classics, and fine examples like this are increasingly rare in today’s market.
