Rhodochrosite, Natrolite

The rhodochrosite crystals from Mont Saint-Hilaire are distinct from those found anywhere else, and this thumbnail is an excellent example. It features many sharp, deep red-wine coloured, rhombohedral crystals attached to black aegirine that is itself attached to a single colourless natrolite prism. It's a fine, well-composed thumbnail from one of Quebec’s most celebrated mineral localities.
