This exquisite miniature specimen of rhodochrosite was acquired by Dr. Tarassoff in 1979 from Eugene E. Schlepp at the Tucson Gem Show. It features lustrous pink botryoidal aggregates of closely packed micro-rhombohedrons, elegantly overgrowing a "gel-like" goethite matrix. The sparkling rose-colored crystals are characteristic of the classic rhodochrosite specimens from Santa Eulalia, making this a particularly lovely and desirable example for collectors.
