An elegant alkaline-complex association from the famous Mount Malosa locality, featuring slender, smoky quartz prisms alongside blocky creamy white microcline and intergrown dark, sharply formed aegirine crystals.
Mount Malosa, near Zomba in southern Malawi, is part of the Chilwa Alkaline Province and is renowned among collectors for producing a remarkable suite of alkaline minerals. Specimens from the locality commonly feature associations of quartz, aegirine, and feldspar, forming highly aesthetic combinations that reflect the unusual geochemistry of the pegmatitic and hydrothermal environments in the complex. Pieces such as this nicely represent the distinctive mineralogy that has made Mount Malosa a classic African mineral locality.
