Quartz (var. Smoky), Adularia

A beautiful and richly coloured smoky quartz crystal from the renowned Val Giuv, Switzerland, featuring exceptional transparency and the bright internal brilliance characteristic of high Alpine quartz. The crystal displays deep smoky colouration, sharp lustrous faces, and attractive stepped-growth features along the prism faces that look wonderful when viewed up close. White adularia crystals are intergrown along some sides of the prism, creating a classic and highly aesthetic Alpine association. Complete all around and in excellent condition, this is a remarkably refined miniature specimen.

Val Giuv has been producing world-class Alpine minerals for nearly two centuries and remains one of Switzerland's most celebrated crystal localities. The valley is particularly famous for its Alpine fissures, which have yielded outstanding smoky quartz, adularia, and a host of other classic Alpine species. Specimens of this quality are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, as generations of collectors have explored the locality and new discoveries require considerable effort to uncover. Ex.
