$70.00

This large-thumbnail specimen features a well-developed, doubly terminated quartz crystal perched attractively atop a bed of light beige dolomite. The quartz is clear to translucent with good lustre and balanced form, and while there is a small chip to the tip of the left-hand termination, the crystal remains in very good overall condition and displays nicely from multiple angles. The association with dolomite makes for a well-composed specimen.

The specimen originates from Squid Cove on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland, a lesser-known but geologically interesting area characterized by carbonate-rich rocks and localized hydrothermal activity. Quartz crystals from this region commonly form in vugs and fractures within dolostone, where slow crystal growth can produce sharp terminations and, more rarely, doubly terminated forms such as this example. Collecting from Squid Cove has historically been limited and sporadic, making well-presented specimens from the locality relatively uncommon.
