Phlogopite (mica)

Here’s an excellent specimen of phlogopite mica featuring classic columnar crystals in parallel growths. The large, translucent brown crystals exhibit bronze-copper-brown terminations on the top end and a highly reflective crystal face on the perfectly cleaved bottom end. This specimen, originating from Quebec, features sharp hexagonal crystal outlines clearly visible at the numerous terminations. All these terminations really make the specimen a great example of phlogopite’s natural structure and beauty. We almost always see this species in broken sections, making this piece stand out for it's terminated end.
