A rich and visually striking specimen consisting of a nodule sawn through the middle to reveal dense metallic mineralization. The interior shows abundant nickeline with flashes of native silver and a bit of attractive rose-gold breithauptite, along with other associated arsenides. The cut surface highlights the intricate intergrowth of these minerals, giving it a bold and characteristic appearance typical of high-grade cobalt camp material.
While the exact mine is unknown, the specimen is from the Cobalt area of Ontario, a district renowned for its distinctive silver–arsenide mineralization. Pieces such as this are classic examples of the region’s geology, where native silver occurs in association with nickel and cobalt arsenides within carbonate host rocks. A rich and interesting example of this well-known Canadian mining district.
