A solid specimen of massive nickeline, showing a rich metallic lustre and characteristic coppery-bronze colour. The material is dense and compact, with a bold, uniform appearance that highlights the classic look of this nickel arsenide mineral. While lacking distinct crystal form, the specimen serves as a representative example of the species in its typical massive habit.
This piece comes from the Sudbury area of Ontario, one of the world’s most important nickel-producing regions. Formed within the famous Sudbury Igneous Complex (an ancient impact structure) nickeline and related nickel minerals occur in association with sulphide ores that have been mined extensively for over a century. Specimens from this locality are valued not only for their composition but also for their connection to one of Canada’s most historically significant mining districts.
