This specimen showcases vibrant greenish-yellow globular aggregates of mimetite on an oxidized rock matrix. A unique example from the famous Tsumeb Mine, it differs slightly in colour and style from typical specimens from this prolific locality. The spherical, sparkly clusters of translucent crystals likely date back to the 1970s discoveries in Tsumeb's Lower Oxidation Zone. This distinctive colour and crystal form are best appreciated under magnification.
Dr. Tarassoff acquired this specimen from Hawthorneden (Frank and Wendy Melanson) at the Montreal Gem and Mineral Club Show in 1981. Its well-preserved, lustrous crystals highlight the exceptional mineral diversity Tsumeb is renowned for.
