This thumbnail specimen features dense, fibrous tufts of brassy-brown millerite forming an attractive crystalline coating on a small plate. The acicular habit and overall appearance are reminiscent of classic millerite material from The Thompson mine in Thompson, Manitoba, a well-known source of fine millerite needles.
Well-crystallized millerite specimens the Thompson mine are relatively scarce, making examples such as this increasingly difficult to obtain making for a small, but excellent, representative of the species and a desirable addition to any sulfide or Canadian thumbnail collection.
