This specimen is a half-nodule composed of compact and divergent cleavages of maricite crystals—an excellent example of this relatively rare mineral. Maricite is seldom encountered, even at phosphate-rich localities in the remote Yukon, and is almost nonexistent elsewhere. The phosphate deposits of the Yukon are globally recognized as one of the premier sources for rare phosphate minerals, making this specimen particularly significant.
