This specimen features levyne crystals, a new discovery for Nova Scotia. Levyne is an uncommon member of the zeolite group, occurring here as white, trigonal tabular crystals. Some of the better-formed levyne crystals display distinct triangular faces resembling a pair of overlaid inverted triangles. The specimen also boasts many pearlescent, orange-tinted heulandite blades. The sample was collected at an inland basalt quarry in Glenmont, Nova Scotia, a locality known for producing some of North America’s finest heulandite specimens. Levyne specimens are relatively rare, and these crystals represent a new, crystal habit for the species. Notably, there are currently no records of levyne from this locality on mindat.org.
