Levyne, Analcime, Heulandite

An uncommon member of the zeolite group, levyne occurs here as white, trigonal tabular crystals set upon a bed of pearlescent, orange-tinted heulandite blades with an accompanying orange-tinted analcime crystal as well. Some of the better-formed levyne crystals display distinct triangular faces. This specimen was collected at an inland basalt quarry in Glenmont, Nova Scotia, a locality known for producing some of North America’s finest heulandite specimens. Levyne specimens are relatively rare, and these crystals represent a new, crystal habit for the species. Notably, this species is a new discovery for Nova Scotia, with no records currently on mindat.org.
