Kasolite, Wulfenite, Malachite

This is a rich specimen of kasolite from the renowned Musonoi Mine in Zaire, a locality famous for its rare uranyl selenites and palladium minerals. The specimen features well formed "star burst" crystallizations of vibrant orange prismatic kasolite crystals along with minor micro crystals of red-orange wulfenite, set against a contrasting green malachite matrix.

Kasolite, a rare uranium silicate, is an oxidation product of uraninite. This specimen showcases well-formed micro-crystals of kasolite, making it an excellent example of these rare uranium minerals. Given its composition, it is slightly radioactive, a common characteristic for minerals of this type. Specimens like this are difficult to obtain today, especially in such fine condition, and are considered classic representations of the species.
