This specimen features a lustrous ilmenite crystal with a prominent pinacoidal face beveled by rhombohedral faces. It is a rare and highly sought-after example from the Bentley Lake occurrence, adjacent to the Madawaska/Faraday Mine property. The crystal is euhedral and well-formed, displaying a tabular hexagonal structure in a glossy dark brownish-black hue. This piece represents a good example from this elusive locality. Bentley Lake is renowned for producing some of the finest non-microscopic ilmenite crystals, making the specimens from there desirable to collectors.
