This superb miniature specimen features bright pearlescent heulandite crystals on a bit of matrix, each well-formed making for an excellent example from this species and locality. It comes from the relatively new and promising locality of Glenmont, Nova Scotia. The crystals form slightly curved prismatic blades with a bright pearly lustre on their pinacoidal faces, giving the piece an elegant and refined appearance.
Heulandite is one of the most common zeolites in the region and occurs at nearly every major locality in the Bay of Fundy volcanic sequence. This specimen is a fine and aesthetic representation of Nova Scotia heulandite, well suited for collectors of Canadian zeolites, Bay of Fundy mineralogy, or attractive display-grade cabinet pieces.
