A remarkable hematite crystal from the little-known locality of Arzanah Island, Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The specimen consists of a single lustrous crystal displaying textbook rhombohedral terminations and exceptionally bright metallic faces. Its simple, isolated presentation beautifully showcases the crystal's symmetry and mirror-like lustre, making it an excellent representative example of this uncommon occurrence.
Arzanah Island is a small island in the Persian Gulf that is best known today for its oil and gas infrastructure, yet it has also produced a small number of collectible hematite crystals. Fine crystallized specimens from this locality are rarely encountered on the market. Compared with the more familiar hematite localities of England, Brazil, or Switzerland, Arzanah material remains decidedly obscure and is seldom represented in mineral collections.
An uncommon thumbnail combining an exceptionally sharp crystal, brilliant metallic lustre, and a rare Middle Eastern locality. A fine addition to any systematic collection of hematite or worldwide mineral localities.
