Graftonite

Rice Mine, Groton, Grafton Co., New Hampshire
USA
Dimensions: 4.5x2.6x1.2 cm
Price: CA

The specimen displays interesting laminations of tan to light brown graftonite, an uncommon iron-manganese-calcium phosphate mineral often associated with lithium-iron phosphates and occurs in sheet-like formations. The crystals are interspersed with pale blue to gray-green triphylite. The contrasting layers of gemmy light-brown graftonite and gray-blue triphylite create a pattern, showcasing the interplay between these two minerals.
