There is not a lot of gold in this one but it sure is interesting! This fragment of quartz from the Gold Range Mine has crystals of pyrite embedded in it. The gold in the specimen occurs as fine grains of gold, only within the pyrite crystals. So the piece has been sawn to expose pyrite crystals in cross section and, there, you can see the bright, gleaming grains of gold in the sectioned pyrite crystals. Lots of gold particles here and there. Excellent!
