This specimen features specks of gold throughout a milky white quartz in the host rock, making it a notable addition to any collection. The Dome Mine is located 2 miles southwest of South Porcupine in Timmins, Ontario. Gold primarily occurs in cross-cutting quartz veins and ankerite-quartz-tourmaline veins. The Dome Mine, developed during the Porcupine Gold Rush, began operations in 1910 and was last run by Goldcorp, now a subsidiary of Newmont. The original Dome Mine, discovered by Jack Wilson in 1909, helped launch the Porcupine Gold Rush. Goldcorp ceased operations on December 31, 2017, after 107 years, making it Canada's longest continuously operating mine at that time. Historic!
