A rich and attractive native gold specimen from South Africa, measuring approximately 3 cm across. The piece consists of thick, interconnected masses of bright, lustrous gold with a slightly flattened, irregular form, intergrown with white quartz. The gold shows a classic granular to hackly texture, with strong surface character and excellent visual impact for its size. A compact but high-grade example displaying well from multiple angles. Specific gravity testing clearly demonstrates gold content at 14.5g. Comes from the collection of Allan C. Smith.
