This specimen contains mostly just greyish quartz, leafy gold and a tiny bit of mica. The native gold is concentrated on a fracture near the top of the piece and throughout the matrix behind the fracture. The O'Brien Mine was operated in the 1920s-40s by the M.J. O'Brien company, the same company that developed the O'Brien Silver Mine in Cobalt Years before. This mine was opened with profits made from the silver operations in Cobalt!
