This 6 mm thick slab has been sawn smooth on both sides to reveal a dense concentration of rich native gold veining cutting through a dark greenstone and quartz matrix. Under magnification, very minor accessory pyrite and arsenopyrite can be observed accompanying the gold within the matrix. A striking and high-grade example of classic Red Lake gold-in-quartz mineralization, this specimen is both visually impressive and geologically significant. After conducting specific gravity tests we've concluded that the slab contains just over 2 troy ounces of native gold.
The specimen originates from the Red Lake Mining District, one of Canada’s most prolific gold-producing regions. With over 26 million ounces of gold produced by 2020, Red Lake is recognized as one of the premier gold camps in the world.
