This specimen features native gold disseminated as rich clots and fine flecks throughout a section of white quartz vein. It originates from the Rivard property, located in the prolific Red Lake District of northwestern Ontario—one of Canada’s most productive and high-grade gold mining regions.
The Rivard property lies approximately 26 kilometres from Evolution Mining’s Red Lake Operations. Historically, it was owned and worked by the Rivard family, who spent decades prospecting and trenching the area, revealing numerous quartz veins bearing visible gold. In recent years, the property was acquired by Trillium Gold Mines Inc. and has been incorporated into their Newman Todd Complex.
This specimen is a representative example of the high-grade gold mineralization that characterizes the Red Lake District. The abundance of visible gold highlights the region’s rich mining legacy. The specimen weighs 34.6 grams and based on visual estimation it contains approximately 2.5 grams of gold.
