This is a superb, small cabinet display specimen from the Septemvri Mine in the Madan Ore Field, Bulgaria—renowned for its exceptional sulfide mineral specimens. The centerpiece are a three soft-appearing, lead-grey, cubic crystals of galena the largest measuring 1.3 cm, with subtle skeletal growth. It is accompanied by black sphalerite, and white prismatic quartz on matrix, with minor chalcopyrite also present. The striking skeletal growth is a rare and highly desirable habit from this locality. The specimen is completely natural and unaltered—no polishing or artificial shaping—and has been inspected under the microscope to confirm its authenticity. It displays exceptionally well with little to no damage. A fine example of crystallized sulfide mineralogy, combining aesthetics, crystallographic forms, and provenance from a classic locality. From the collection of Dr. Peter Tarassoff in 2007 in Montreal.
