A bit different than what you normally see from the AGS, this specimen consists of clusters of sharp galena cubes on massive fluorite, along with minor arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, and sphalerite. This specimen hails from a significant fluorite deposit in Newfoundland, a location with a history of intermittent mining activity spanning several decades. The specimen was acquired from a former manager of the AGS, who played a direct role in the mine's operations. Although the mine is currently inactive with no immediate plans for reopening, the potential for future exploitation remains, contingent upon economic and operational conditions. This specimen not only showcases the unique mineral characteristics but also represents the rich mining history of the region.
