Galena

This specimen represents a section of what could have been a significantly large galena cube, whose growth was interrupted. This eye-catching piece is a small cabinet-sized specimen featuring distinct hoppered faces, which give the surface a stepped appearance. The battleship-gray galena is also adorned with sharp, brassy marcasite crystals, adding further contrast and interest to the piece. The Tri-State District is famous for producing some of the world’s finest galena. This is an excellent example from a region celebrated for its prolific mineral production.
