This specimen exhibits a complex stratification of mineral layers, beginning with a base of white/grey calcite, followed by a layer of sea-foam green fluorite, and culminating in a druse of colourless quartz crystals. Under ultraviolet (UV) light, the specimen displays remarkable fluorescence, with the fluorite emitting a light blue glow and the calcite fluorescing a bright orange. The specimen originates from a significant fluorite deposit in Newfoundland, a site with a history of intermittent mining activity spanning several decades. It was acquired from a former manager of the AGS who was directly involved in the mine's operations. The mine is currently inactive, with no immediate plans for reopening. However, future exploitation of the site remains a possibility depending on economic and operational conditions.
