Here's a cluster of striking, glassy, sharp and lustrous cubes of fluorite. It has just a bit of sparkly, brecciated limestone matrix left attached. Much of the main crystals are there, but there is a bit of bruising and contacting around the sides. The back of the specimen had a fracture line going through it and so I reinforced it with a bit of glue. It comes from the well-known limestone quarry in Flamborough, Ontario. Under longwave UV light, the fluorite exhibits a fascinating ghostly-white fluorescence, a characteristic feature of fluorite from this locality. These cubes bear a strong resemblance to the classic fluorites from Clay Center, Ohio, but are significantly rarer in Ontario.
