This specimen features a single fluorite crystal with a distinctive cube-octahedral habit. It displays icy-clear translucency near the outer edges with a subtle pale green colouration at the base. The crystal exemplifies the high-quality fluorite once found at the long-depleted Rogers Mine near Madoc, Ontario. From what can be seen, it appears to be a complete crystal, with only a small patch of matrix remaining where it was once attached. Surfaces vary from glassy to satin-like lustre. The crystal's slightly foggy clarity makes it challenging to photograph well. With the mine long closed and fine specimens increasingly scarce, this is a remarkable old-stock example and a worthy addition to any thumbnail collection, particularly for those with an interest in Canadian fluorite or classic localities.
