Fluorite

Here's a striking, glassy, sharp and lustrous cube of fluorite. Though growth was interrupted by matrix, it's a complete cube with just a small point of contact near one edge. It comes from the well-known limestone quarry in Flamborough, Ontario. Under longwave UV light, the fluorite exhibits a fascinating ghostly-white fluorescence, a characteristic feature of fluorite from this locality. These cubes bear a strong resemblance to the classic fluorites from Clay Center, Ohio, but are significantly rarer in Ontario.
