Here's a striking, glassy, sharp and lustrous cube (well, five sides of a cube at least) of fluorite. It has just a bit of sparkly, brecciated limestone matrix left attached. It comes from the well-known limestone quarry in Flamborough, Ontario. Under longwave UV light, the fluorite exhibits a fascinating ghostly-white fluorescence, a characteristic feature of fluorite from this locality. These cubes bear a strong resemblance to the classic fluorites from Clay Center, Ohio, but are significantly rarer in Ontario. The specimen is housed in a perky box for display.
