This specimen features a beautiful purple and yellow zoned section of fluorite from the historic Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District, one of the most renowned fluorite localities in the United States. The main crystal displays impressive zoning and a distinctive hoppered face. It is not uncommon for fluorites from this region to contain inclusions of bitumen, oil, or other hydrocarbons, adding to their uniqueness. A great example from the classic Cave-in-Rock!
