This specimen features sharp, pseudo-cubic, colourless crystals of fluorapophyllite-(K) from the large quarry at Mariánská Skála (formerly Marienberg) in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. The well-formed, lustrous, blocky white crystals, measuring up to 4 mm, are richly distributed across a vug in volcanic rock, likely phonolite, with only minor bruising.
Mariánská Skála quarry is a prominent geological feature on the left bank of the Elbe River and has been an active quarry for many years, contributing to its reputation as an important mineralogical locality. The rock is a sodalite-natrolite-rich laccolith, with natrolite comprising an approximately 40% of the formation. In addition to fluorapophyllite-(K), the quarry has produced excellent examples of zeolite minerals making this a significant and diverse mineral deposit.
