This rare and striking two-sided small cabinet specimen comes from the now-extinct Korsnäs lead mine in Finland. One side is coated with sharp, pearlescent, greyish-white harmotome crystals of various sizes, originally mislabeled as calcite. Many appear to be twinned. The opposite side features a vuggy matrix densely covered in numerous gemmy, greenish-yellow apophyllite crystals, with a few calcite crystals nestled within a protected cavity.
Korsnäs, located 40 km south of Vaasa, was a lead deposit locality, now completely closed, with only scattered rock remnants remaining. Access to the old mine area requires permission from the local city office. This is an exceptional and rare combination specimen, an excellent addition for collectors of Finnish minerals or unique European localities.
