This specimen features an unusually coloured fluorapatite crystal, exhibiting a mix of light green and black hues, giving it an almost reptilian appearance. The crystal is well-formed, with complete terminations on both ends, although one end remains partially embedded in the fleshy-pink calcite matrix. It presents beautifully as is, and any attempt to further expose the buried termination is not recommended to preserve the specimen's integrity.
This unique fluorapatite comes from a relatively obscure locality in Quebec. The distinctive colouration and contrast with the pink calcite matrix make this piece a fascinating addition for any collector of rare or unusual apatite specimens.
